An early symptom of fibromyalgia is fatigue accompanied by muscle pain and stiffness. Fibromyalgia or FMS is somewhat of a mystery to the medical community as the cause has not yet been discovered. Research has shown that it can be associated with other rheumatic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and other connective tissue disorders. Fibromyalgia symptom treatment includes exercise, eating healthy, taking medication, steroid injections and stress reduction. A diagnosis is made based upon a patient's past medical history and evidence of pain in 11 to 18 tender points found on the body. A person with FMS may find that the pain becomes worse if there is a change in the weather. Experiencing excessive stress and trying to cope with noise can also make pain worse. Problems associated with the syndrome are poor sleep, memory lapses, cognitive problems, and anxiety.

A typical day for a person who suffers from FMS will usually include stiffness in the morning and fatigue making it very difficult to get out of bed. There may be some burning in the muscles and jaw pain. In addition, headaches are an early symptom of fibromyalgia and can be reoccurring. A person with the syndrome may wake up in the morning feeling as if they hadn't slept. Moving slow and doing stretches before getting out of bed are helpful. Start the day with prayer and trust God one day at a time. "As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: He is a buckler to all them that trust in Him." (2 Samuel 22:31)

To combat the symptoms of FMS a physician will usually prescribe lifestyle changes especially for those who are overweight. Fibromyalgia symptom treatment includes exercise and eating healthy. Exercise is important but shouldn't be overdone so find a low-impact activity that is not hard on the body and then do it in moderation everyday. Eating healthy will provide health benefits to help combat the fatigue and pain that a person generally feels with FMS. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, complex carbohydrates, foods high in fiber, non-fat dairy products, and foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids and food high in antioxidants.

Digestive problems often plague patients with FMS. Irritable bladder or bowel is an early symptom of fibromyalgia. A person may also experience heartburn and acid reflux. Some patients have periodic bouts of constipation or diarrhea that worsen during times of stress. Frequent urination can interrupt sleep patterns and further aggravate symptoms. Finding a way to get a good night sleep may well be the most important objective with treating fibromyalgia since it is common for someone who has the syndrome to experience non-restorative sleep. Sometimes a physician will recommend a sleep study be done to see if the patient has a sleep disorder such as sleep apnea that may be contributing to sleep problems.

There are some medications that have been shown to help minimize symptoms associated with FMS. Fibromyalgia symptom treatment includes medications such as anti-depressants, sleep aids, muscle relaxants, and anti-inflammatories. Another medication that has recently been approved to treat the syndrome is a drug that works on treating the neuropathic pain by modifying the release of neurotransmitters so nerve cells can't communicate with one another. Anti-depressants may help with low serotonin levels that are typical for FMS patients. Research has shown that anti-depressants may help with pain as well. Sleep aids and muscle relaxants are not normally prescribed for long-term use but a patient with the syndrome may need to take it on a continual basis.

Peace and quiet are two things that most patients with FMS seem to need. Noise sensitivity in an early symptom of fibromyalgia and can aggravate a person's pain level. When a patient is in pain with the syndrome they may feel like the pain is more related to the nerves than the muscles and soft tissues because becoming nervous or anxious makes the pain worse. People with FMS are very sensitive to light and noise.

FMS patients need to understand that part of their therapy is to reduce worry and anxiety. Anxiety has a negative effect on the body no matter who it is but for someone who has the syndrome reducing anxiety is the difference between less pain and more pain. Fibromyalgia symptom treatment includes stress reduction for a better quality of life. Stress can wear the body down over time and can lead to other health problems that make FMS symptoms much worse.

Alternative therapies for FMS have been shown to be helpful with symptoms. Massage is helpful with reducing pain through relaxation and relieving pressure points. Some massage therapists have been trained to understand the needs of patients with fibromyalgia, the tender points on the body and the necessity of gentleness. To find a good massage therapist a person could do a search on the Internet or talk to their doctor or to a Chiropractor. Chiropractors often employ massage therapist that work on patients with health concerns.

Future research with fibromyalgia is concentrated on finding the cause of the syndrome. Some of the research being done is looking at viruses as a possible cause. Some of the important findings have shown that patients with the syndrome may have low serotonin levels in the brain and the inability to go into a deep sleep. Sleep studies do bear out that when patients with FMS starts to go into level 4 sleep they are aroused keeping them from getting restorative sleep. Without level 4 sleep the body can not heal and refresh itself. Fibromyalgia symptom treatment includes the importance of obtaining restorative sleep.

"Between the recommendations, life goes on." I have lost 10 pounds, eat only by less and exercising more (it's really that easy for most people). My asthma has returned after heavy exposure to an obscure allergen. My partner and I experienced our first positive pregnancy test after years of Infertility… and subsequently a miscarriage had days later. I started a new project at work. And meet next month, I my next therapist.Having a personality (disorder) is in personality disorders is the idea that something is broken. Something caused pain or discomfort. And from this pain/discomfort, something must be changed. It follows then that there are many different types of people cause no pain and discomfort. A person can have multiple personalities. There are so many ways to be; human Some seem absolutely bizarre and impossible, but it is important to accept that these differences do not inherently wrong and need not necessarily 'repair'. The first and biggest hurdle of a personality disorder is recognition something about you is different. This confirmation is validation from others... whether in the form of meeting people with similar personalities and experience or as a therapist diagnosis and reassuring you. This is not a simple process. A culture requires similarity, familiarity and intimacy. The more you vary the less likely people will accept. Accept the less you, the less likely you will verify your different perceptions and behaviors. You are probably even stigmatise itself. If you accept your own differences, not in the position you either you fight or to deny. Be in the best case scenario, either way, a lot of energy just 'only through' waste. In the worst case you access drugs, self-harm, abuse, smoking, eating disorders, alcohol and so on. The second hurdle self-acceptance is so even if it means to accept that you are completely unhappy doubtful about the kind of person who are you and completely change your ability (or desire). Acceptance. It can this change follows only recognition and everything you need to deal with. Someone with dissociative identity needs error to integrate all your parts. Someone with schizoid personality disorder needs be more sociable. What really needs someone with a personality disorder are around with the resources and skills, who are to be overcome so that only a .Everyone personality (minus the disease) changes, growing Develops… which is life. The only difference is a personality disorder is that there are other barriers between you today and you tomorrow.Being SchizoidI have no friends, and despite the deep lonely I fight for friends in practice want. I can not tolerate even with family on the best days and I barely enough intimacy with my partner to maintain conceive a child. There are few opportunities for me, the occupational safety and health have a relationship, which is growing at a pace and I find comfortable away.  The real world are parking spaces for disabled persons, but find no equipment to serve my handicap. I can maintain no friendship. My psychological soil is habitable. More judgmental readers could be secretly happy that my partner and I Reproduce… unless it can in reality that is the third hammer strike. I'm no daughter. I'm not a friend. I'll be no mother. With all these empty, I'm not sure how much more I can manage a wife. So, if I'm all... is a Employee… what happens when I retire? What happens if I ever lose my job? What happens if I do not work? Desperate for meaning cut it. I can see why I'm such a high risk of suicide despite my lack of suicidal thoughts. It is a real danger that I someday no attachments ever to have left. No need for today or tomorrow. No characters to anyone, that something is wrong. I want to change my personality. "I would like to hang a woman, mother, a friend and a daughter, instead of perpetual sorrow and shame on me only the highs and lows of being in every quiet moment to experience."

Arthritis education provides essential information for any patient that may be experiencing any pain or symptoms possibly related to this disease. Seeking help begins with finding information on the subject. This education can be completed in many different ways. Some individuals seek immediate help from a doctor for medications and treatment options in order to alleviate some of the pain that comes with the condition. Many individuals search for arthritis help through the use of the Internet that offers many websites on pain and relief options. Through a physician or websites, an individual can find information on local or national groups that help educate individuals on dealing with and alleviating pain. Anyone suffering from the pain of this condition must know that there is help out there and should seek further information and assistance as soon as possible.

It is very important to seek assistance from a physician when the symptoms of arthritis are apparent. Some of these symptoms may include pain, inflammation, redness of the skin, and limited mobility in the affected area. A physician can provide valuable arthritis education and further assistance for dealing with this condition. Most importantly, the physician can provide information through pamphlets or informative materials. These materials may assist the patient in understanding how to deal with the pain, nutrition, and other treatment options that may exist for individuals suffering from arthritis. While there is no cure, there are medical options that may alleviate some symptoms. Any medications prescribed by a doctor are strictly for either pain or the inflammation that occurs. These medications provide some much-needed relief. Nutrition, exercise, and weight loss are often common information that is provided by a medical professional. For individuals with allergies or specific types of arthritis, certain foods can trigger a flare up. Exercise can often be a form of arthritis help for an individual with pain from arthritis. While weight is not a major factor of this condition, weight loss can take some strain off certain joints, such as knees and hips.

The Internet is another great place to search for help. The information that can be found online is often much greater than a physician can provide in a half hour office visit. Many of these websites offer arthritis education in various forms of information. Often websites will offer causes, symptoms, treatment options, common questions, and information on the many types of this disease that exist. Finding valuable information on these topics can be very helpful for a suffering patient. While physicians provide great information, sometimes what they say can only begin to skim the surface of the information on arthritis help that can assist the individual in maintaining an active and healthy life while suffering from pain. Internet websites offer the individual a much deeper understanding of the treatment options that are available for individuals suffering from pain and agony.

It is especially important to understand just how many people are actually suffering from this condition. Both doctors and Internet resources can provide information on one of the most valuable tools for patients. Arthritis help can be found in the form of support groups available both locally and nationally. Many groups, foundations, and organizations devote a great deal of time and money to support groups where individuals can meet others and share stories or pain and success. While these groups may not be as highly publicized as support groups for alcoholics, drug addicts, and individuals with deep physical and emotional pains, these support groups are available to offer arthritis education and sympathy to other individuals that may be suffering from similar pain and symptoms. Many hospitals organize or allow support groups to form for these purposes. They are a great way for patients to develop a much deeper understanding of how this condition can affect the individuals life on a daily basis.

Seeking a great deal of information on this subject is a crucial first step in understanding and living with arthritis. A physician can provide arthritis help in many forms. Some of the help provided by doctors may include nutrition information and medications to alleviate pain. The Internet is another great source for arthritis education. The Internet allows the individual to delve much deeper into the causes and treatment options that may provide some relief from the pain. Assistance in the form of a support group may be one of the most affective ways for an individual to confront issues that will arise in day-to-day life. Seeking help from others that have been through the same situation will provide insight that many doctors and websites can not offer. Suffering from this pain, or any pain, is not the plan that God has for anyone. It is very important to have faith in the love and mercy that God provides. "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." (3 John 1:2)

i decided against telling the psychiatrist about the alledged hypermania, im doing well. not delusional as far as im aware...heh. anyway im staying at my friends at the moment and everything is going pretty well! i met the new psychiatrist who *fingers crossed* seems nice and also reasonable. he seemed to understand that it is important for me to be able to draw for my sanity as well as for making a living in future.

the decision was that we will up the paroxetine to 40mg and then to 60mg! hooray! im also thinking of trying lithium again since last time was so completely screwed up by the hormones from the mirena coil that maybe i didnt give it a fair trial. i have to say that i prefer the idea of lithium because it doesnt affect people without problems as opposed to seroquel which completely wrecks EVERYBODY. it kind of makes me think that it might be a better option long term aside from the risk of thyroid problems but it would control my moods rather than controlling *me* if that makes sense? ugh so complicated.

anyway im being signed up for psychological something or other which sounded quite good when he said it.

my house is nearly finished so im looking forward to FINALLY having somewhere of my own

me and the boyfriend (who have sorted out pretty much all of our problems!) are thinking of moving to spain when my precarious mental health is under control. his aspergers means that he can get a job at pretty much any of the financial/computing firms with no problems (he has excellent references from various things he's done in the past) so we'll probably do that and i'll get get some design jobs i guess.

its all going pretty well really - just thought i'd update anyway! x

"Recently one of my parts my therapist (T) wrote a letter it ask for help, but wanted to express, were you unable to speak directly into the sessions so far." Another part: an angry, scary part (I haven't decided what name you on my blog yet) then tried to destroy the letter. It was recovered from yet another of my parts, mature, attentive part (who we 'Observers' call), who wrote a letter to T, then explained a few things about the whole "parts" situation and problems we encountered trying T which help us to trust. We were very nervous as all this with t. to go down would we did not know if perhaps we would be rebuked this to do. Growing up in an environment where each seemingly small or insignificant, what I did or the wrong thing and have scary consequences, makes me always ensure I'm doing something completely out of order without noticing. There is also the fear of being accused of these things make up. And then there is the fear of the person that just unaware it was as important a thing for me, you write. But we have a good reaction. T said it was very brave of us, there to you. In the letter, the mature part asked T T asked me about the pictures at the next session questions about the pictures. So (I had every week for months takes was but had not trust if T want to see not to mention: that would be a big blow for someone so fragile) and I showed you to it. The images were originally on to be a project that I decided to try to know my parts after first consciously parts is supposed to work. I set up a task paper express try to each change that I am aware. I allows one page per age and tried the pictures/drawings/colors/shapes/words/nothing else use to visually represent person. The child parts but loved this activity and I found kind of acquisition with him. The 'one page per age', what worked really: little C as I found several pages with images ranging from cut outs magazine, make pictures Christmas collages! Finally the child parts worked on two projects: one which 'like' and the dislikes or as they called it: "Things I dont like and things that feel me badly". Some of the images 'Dislike' are hard for me to consider. Some of the pictures a different child part scribbled had. Some, although not from a child part firmly scribbled had to be sealed or be covered for safety, so that pieces of map about you to keys or envelopes to the images in hide make plug. This felt safer somehow. So I it to T, sat and saw the flaps, among all the fully opened the envelope bits of torn paper of small images. She talked about what you saw. Some of the pictures had labels, and she was reading. I felt my get very upset to stop me angry child part that talk and look at the pictures on your cries want stop. Another part was feeling some other unpleasant feelings and my body was physically respond. To me, all sitting shell in silence, you would stop talking about what you saw and wish I could disappear. I think I was in and out of the room and drive. I could hear it in the background, but I tried not to: "I don't like buttons...." Maggots.... asking things to do, I don't want to do... "This looks like a bathroom..." but I was not really there more. I heard you say: "This tells a story" and give something about it a lot of "Information". I woke up in the middle of the night with everything buzzing round in my head. There were so Los talk (there is always talk goes but sometimes it gets louder and more annoying or argumentative or annoying). Someone was really concerned. Reminded "The words tells a story" and "Information" and you were screaming at me: "what you say you?" What have you done? What information? "What was in the pictures?"  I don't think that you really for answers when searching on reflection have. I think, had fallen in panic. We have our lives with the motto which lived: trust no one, because everyone is the down arrow or hurting you. We learn that lesson at a young age to scream for help for adults who do not want what going see was so ignored the shouts and the other way.Sometimes looked up if it is too much in my head, I get a pen and paper and write the story, how it goes on. This helps people to get your opinion; It helps me to know what's going on, but it can be a really bad thing. Sometimes, if a means to bring given that usually is not available, can be to see things begin to get that very disturbing on paper. If interested in maybe I some story in this blog, could make, if this is something, want to read? I know I tried to see Googling if someone blogging has tried their internal calls, but I haven't been able to find all. I have to think more about this is definitely to do OK but if you want to read it let me know (often it is not pretty though.) (Must be this blog rules language or content?)As well, that's enough for now, I'm sure that your eyes will become tired if not your brain after reading all this!

Finding chronic pain relief can be a difficult challenge for both the individual who suffers from ongoing physical illness and the physician who treats them. Everyone experiences aches and pains from time to time. Acute illnesses and injuries can present a temporary time of painfulness and suffering. But with conditions that are more chronic in nature, the ongoing pain can be stressful to both the body and the mind. Patients may even find it difficult to keep up with regular daily routines. Entire families can feel the impact of a persistent condition that is both painful and debilitating. Back injuries, arthritis, nerve damage, and other conditions can result in anguish and physical limitations on patients. The psychological toll can be very high as well. Even more difficult to deal with is the painful condition that can't be diagnosed. Dealing with pain that is very real but has no diagnosis can be very frustrating for the anguished patient.

Families, careers, and peace of mind may suffer do to an inability to attain chronic pain relief. Some of the conditions that frequently cause long lasting and persistent suffering might include carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, giant cell arteritis, polymyalgia rheumatica, osteoarthritis, lumbar spinal canal stenosis, complex regional pain syndrome, somatoform disorder, patellofemoral pain syndrome, and pigmented villonodular synovitis. Treating a painful illness will obviously involve making a correct diagnosis of the malady that is causing the pain. With many conditions, this can be very difficult. Symptoms can overlap and diseases can imitate each other. Once a correct diagnosis has been made, finding effective ways to treat and alleviate the continuing suffering can also present a significant challenge.

Specialist who deal in managing persistently painful maladies may be of help. Medication may also provide needed chronic pain relief. Often a multi pronged approach is called for. Patients who are willing to work consistently with medical professionals and follow through on instructions, medications, and advice are the most likely to succeed. Emotional and psychological problems such as depression and anger management may be called for if the patient has been suffering for a lengthy period of time. There are a variety of medical appliances that can provide the patient with a continuous supply of medications that offer chronic pain relief. These devices may come in the form of implanted pumps that supply a continuous intravenous feed. In many cases, the patient themselves can have some control over the dosage, pumping more medication in at times when it is needed.

Living with these health issues and finding chronic pain relief may require the development of certain strategies. A patient's family doctor can usually sit down with them and help them to come up with tips and lifestyle changes that could help them deal with painful conditions. These strategies will frequently involve a certain amount of old fashioned trial and error. Such strategies could include medications, therapy, exercises, and any number of other options. Arriving at the best solution that fits the needs of the specific individual can be a challenge, but is well worth the effort involved. Finding a support group can be very beneficial as well. Many maladies will have organized groups that deal specifically with one particular illness. Sharing problems, frustrations, victories, and fears with other who are experiencing similar trials can be very rewarding. Dealing openly with the emotions that may accompany chronic pain rather than stifling them is very important. A patient should also never underestimate the power of humor. The Bible points to God as a source of light and strength. 'The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1)

Of course, successfully finding chronic pain relief is not without its risks. Many medical professionals have expressed concern over the issue of drug abuse for patients who are suffering. Dealing with a patient's suffering without creating an addiction situation can be a major challenge. Some diseases will simply need to run their course. Giant cell arteritis, for example, can last from one to two years. Patients can experience extremely painful symptoms and may loose a great deal of mobility as the malady progresses. Without proper treatment, the patient's eyesight can be seriously threatened as well. Treating this disease with steroids can bring needed chronic pain relief. Of course, ingesting steroids over a period of years can create a number of other physical problems. Such is the balancing act that is faced by medical professionals when dealing with illnesses that cause a persistently painful condition for patients.

In addition to the use of various medications, there are a number of other approaches that can be used to provide chronic pain relief. Physical therapy that includes exercises that promote stretching and strengthening can be very helpful. Low impact exercise may be appropriate in some cases. Walking, swimming, or a number of other activities can help injured individuals get back to normal. Of course, every situation will be different, and a patient will need to discuss the appropriate measures with their physician. Occupational rehabilitation can help patients slowly build their health so that they can once again return to normal activities and work day responsibilities. For those who are having a hard time adjusting mentally to the change in life that their condition has caused may benefit from behavioral therapy. With dedication and skilled medical care, individuals can find relief from many long standing and painful conditions.

Chronic lower back pain may be an indication of a serious problem especially if the discomfort has lasted for several months. Causes may include a herniated or ruptured disc, a tumor, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis or another serious disease. Other possible causes are strained muscles or ligaments, spinal degeneration, sciatica, skeletal problems, and fibromyalgia. A diagnosis is often made through a physical examination, x-ray imaging, discography, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound imaging or an electro diagnostic procedure. Lower back pain remedies may include but are not limited to applying ice and heat, bed rest, exercise, medications, spinal manipulation, biofeedback, interventional therapy, and surgery.

Pain that is persistent and prolonged should be checked out by a physician. A person who has suffered several months with chronic lower back pain may need to undergo some diagnostic tests to determine the cause. A conventional x-ray is usually the first test that is recommended by a doctor. The results may show fractures, broken bones, or injuries to vertebrae. Suffering with pain can be exhausting and debilitating. A person who finds that he or she is in this sort of predicament should put their faith and trust in God. "But unto you that fear My name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in His wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall." (Malachi 4:2)

Muscle and ligament strain will usually respond to therapy that includes bed rest and medication such as ibuprofen or other analgesics. Sometimes muscle relaxers are prescribed along with applying hot and cold packs. Discomfort caused by tension may respond to massage therapy and relaxation techniques. Persistent lower back pain remedies for tension often responds to spinal manipulation through a licensed specialist.

Spinal degeneration happens when the discs begin to wear down leading to narrowing of the spinal column. One of the symptoms of this type of chronic lower back pain is discomfort first thing in the morning and after walking or standing for long periods of time. The best thing for spinal degeneration is to stretch before getting out of bed in the morning and to limit periods of walking and standing. Exercise will provide some benefits but activity should be accomplished by doing a little at a time.

Sciatica is a condition involving a herniated or ruptured disc that is pressing on the sciatic nerve. The sciatic is a large nerve that extends down the spine into the pelvis and down the leg. Sciatica can lead to numbness and loss of motor control if the nerve becomes pinched. One way to diagnose the condition is by using ultrasound imaging. Ultrasound imaging uses infrared technology to measure temperature changes to find nerve root compression. Lower back pain remedies for nerve discomfort include taking anticonvulsants to relax the nerve, and interventional therapy can be used to block nerve pain by injecting steroids or local anesthetics into the area that is inflamed. Surgery is another way to treat the discomfort.

Skeletal problems can put strain on vertebrae, muscles, ligaments, and tendons in the spine causing chronic lower back pain. One of the conditions associated with skeletal problems is scoliosis or curvature of the spine. Curvature of the spine often occurs in children while they are still growing. If caught in time a brace can help correct the curvature but in most cases surgery is necessary. Children that are school age should get checked at least once during the school year for curvature of the spine during their physical exam needed for school.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition that may include widespread musculoskeletal pain. A person who is suffering with discomfort from fibromyalgia will have tender points in the spine, shoulders, hips, and neck. Treatment may include anti-inflammatories, relaxation techniques, sleep aids, and anti-depressants. Stress and noise can aggravate the symptoms of fibromyalgia so the patient needs to learn positive coping strategies for dealing with stress. The condition usually includes chronic fatigue and brain fog. Sleep remedies are the most important treatment for this syndrome so doing a sleep study may prove beneficial. Restorative sleep often helps with the discomfort of fibromyalgia.

There are many diagnostic methods available today for trying to determine lower back pain remedies for ailing patients. A herniated or ruptured disc can be discovered through a procedure called a discography. Dye is injected into the problematic area to provide a picture of the damaged disc. Another way to discover disc problems is through a procedure called a myelogram. Dye is used in a myelogram but it is injected through the entire spinal column in order to find all of the problematic areas.

Computerized tomography or a CT scan is an x-ray that is performed by a computer to show two dimensions of the structures in the back to find the cause of chronic lower back pain. Another way to diagnose discomfort is through a magnetic resonance imaging procedure, better known as an MRI. An MRI can help a doctor discover degeneration of the bone and disease in the tissues, nerves, muscles, and blood vessels. This type of procedure is done with the help of radio waves within a magnetic field. A signal is processed by the computer and projects an image that differentiates between tissue and bone.

Another way to diagnose back discomfort is through an electro diagnostic procedure known as a nerve conduction study that measures the electrical activity in the nerves. A fine needle is inserted into the muscles and a mild shock is administered to stimulate the nerve. This type of diagnostic test shows if the nerve is damaged. Nerve conduction studies are helpful in finding spinal cord injury, nerve root compression, neuromuscular conditions, and will show trauma to nerves within the body. Lower back pain remedies for spinal cord injury will greatly depend upon the extent of the injury but oftentimes surgery is necessary. For a better outcome an individual with back discomfort that lasts for more than a couple of weeks should make an appointment with a doctor to find the cause and get treatment. Waiting too long to seek help could make a difference with the end result.

Anyone in need of joint pain treatments knows the agony of contracting a disease or experiencing an injury in one or more of these vital parts of the body. We depend on our joints to function each day. There are over two hundred and thirty joints in the human body. When even one of these important movable parts is not functioning properly, the entire body can be seriously and painfully effected. Painful conditions in the joints of the human body can be the result of diseases such as arthritis or osteoporosis. Injuries that impact the joints can be extremely painful and may require significant recuperation time and extensive joint pain treatments.

The first thing that a physician will need to do is to uncover the reason for the pain as well as the extent of the damage, if any. This may be ascertained through any number of diagnostic tests such as X-rays, bone scans, magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI's,urine tests, or a number of other imaging technologies. Such tests can be used to uncover issues like arthritis, dislocated joints, bone fractures, tumors, or bruises on the bone. A number of other maladies can also cause joint pain. These illnesses may include gout, fibromyalgia, lupus, infections, or injuries such as tears in the tendons or the meniscus. The type of joint pain treatments that may be called for will depend on the diagnosis. If the painful condition is severe, medications that will help to control suffering may be prescribed. Physicians must oversee such treatment, however. A dependence upon pain medications will only add to the patient's struggles. The advice of doctors who specialize in osteopathic or sports medicine may be required. Other medications may carry serious side effects such as an increased risk of heart related problems such as strokes or heart attacks. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may also be recommended.

A number of chronic conditions may be present that require joint pain treatments. Osteoarthritis involves a wearing away of protective cartilage. As this cartilage wears away, the patient's bones will rub together painfully. Swelling and pain and further destruction of the cartilage will usually accompany this friction. Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease of the immune system. The victim's joint linings will swell and cause serious and painful inflammation. Damage to the bone and cartilage can also occur. Gout is a condition in which there is a buildup of uric crystals in the joint. The patient will usually need to make major modifications in their diet in order to limit the impact of this disease.

Anyone seeking joint pain treatments will need to be examined by a professional health care provider. Basic information on the patient's medical history will be needed. Information on the joints that are hurting will be required as well. The physician will need to know how long the patient has been dealing with the problem. Did this problem begin suddenly and painfully, or did the discomfort increase little by little over time? Was there an injury involved? Have there been any other illnesses that occurred around the same time that the painful symptoms began? If the patient rests the joints, does this bring relief? Was there a fever at any point? Is there a limitation on range motion? Morning stiffness may also be an important symptom. A doctor will usually want to know if the stiffness improves as the day moves on. Is there any numbness? In addition to all of these questions, additional diagnostic tools may be called for before joint pain treatments can begin. A physician may order blood work or a series of x-rays. Once diagnosis has been made, physical therapy may also be recommended. The Bible instructs believers to trust God for all of their needs and to avoid worry. Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? (Matthew 6:25)

There are a number of joint pain treatments that come under the category of home remedies. Something as simple as a lukewarm bath can sometimes help to relax muscles and provide relief. An oil massage of the painful area may be helpful as well. Some patients believe that home remedies such as garlic or turmeric powder can be effective in dealing with painful joints. Others swear by a diet that is rich in fruits such as bananas. Carrot juice has been rumored to strengthen ligaments. Apple cider vinegar has also been praised as a helpful natural remedy. No one should make the mistake of turning to remedies such as these rather than seeking joint pain treatments from trained medical professionals. Obtaining rest after an injury to a joint can be very helpful. Low impact exercise is important as well and can not only increase mobility, but can help the patient loose extra pounds, thereby putting less stress on the suffering joints. However, any time that a patient has a fever, or flu like symptoms along with painful sensations in the joints, such symptoms should be reported to a doctor. The patient may be suffering from other ailments that have yet to be diagnosed and require additional treatment. A sudden loss of weight that seems to have no logical explanation can be another serious warning sign. While pain in the joints can be difficult to deal with, the skilled care of a medical professional, along with any needed lifestyle changes, can help to return the patient to full health.

For most people spinal stenosis surgery is the final step in a pain control program. Lumbar stenosis treatment doesn't necessarily have to include surgery, but, if pain can't be controlled with non-surgical methods, an operation is an option. The good news for people suffering with a lumbar affliction is that non-surgical methods are can relieve the pain and suffering for a period of time. In fact, the symptoms could be controlled indefinitely. But non-surgical methods are not curative. Spinal stenosis surgery is about the only way remedy of the ailment. Lumbar stenosis is caused by the narrowing of the spinal canal. This can occur suddenly, but the condition usually develops over a long period of time. As the canal narrows, nerve roots that branch out from the spinal cord become irritated or squeezed, and treatment in some form becomes necessary to relieve the pain. Occasionally, the spinal cord itself can be irritated or pinched. Squeezed or irritated nerves cause pain or numbness that radiates from the lower back and down the legs. Tingling and weakness in the legs are also symptoms. Activity can increase the severity of symptoms.

If none non-surgical techniques don't relieve the symptoms or the pain becomes too much to handle, surgery is an option. Pain and disability are usually factors in determining when to have an operation. When a person's quality of life is impacted to the point that they have a difficult time caring for themselves, spinal stenosis surgery is the only remaining option. There are two common types of lumbar surgical procedures. Both have the same goal, which is to make room for the affected nerve to heal. The two types of lumbar surgery are called microdiscectomy and decompressive laminectomy. According to a medical website, microdiscectomy is more useful in treating leg pain than it is for back pain. Basically, a surgeon removes a portion of bone that is over the nerve root, or a portion of the disc located under the nerve root. This spinal stenosis surgery usually takes pressure off the nerve and provides ample space for healing. Lumbar laminectomy surgery is also called open decompression surgery. In this procedure a surgeon removes a portion of the bone over the nerve root and provides space for healing. There are other medical options available, such as spinal fusion. Individual characteristics and degree of disability are key factors in determining a course of treatment.

During spinal stenosis surgery, the patient is asleep under general anesthesia. After surgery, the patient is monitored for awhile in a recovery room and will usually leave the hospital within two to five days. Following surgery, patients may experience pain for a few weeks. But over-the-counter and prescription medications help relieve the discomfort. Depending on the extent of the surgery and the patient's overall health, recovery time may last from just a few weeks to half a year. Always keep faith in God and continue to pray for quick healing. In Psalm 38 David makes an appeal for relief of an unknown yet severe and painful illness. Severe pain and suffering can be debilitating both psychologically and physically as David's plea can attest. "I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh. I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart. Lord all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee." (Psalms 38: 6-9) Pain is a difficult burden to handle alone, so seek the mercy of God through prayer.

If after the initial assessment the doctor determines that spinal stenosis surgery isn't needed immediately, an effective treatment program will be developed. If lumbar spinal stenosis is suspected, there are at least two ways to confirm the existence of a problem: an MRI scan or a CT scan. The CT scan is sometimes done using an X-ray dye that has been injected into the spinal fluid. Both an MRI and CT scan procedures are too in-depth to explain in such a short article. But there are some websites with detailed descriptions of both procedures. If diagnosed, people can successfully manage their pain and symptoms through non-surgical means. Generally, non-surgical treatments are preferable to spinal stenosis surgery. Treatment may include an exercise program supervised by a physical therapist, activity modification, and epidural injections. Keep in mind, none of these methods will produce a cure. They are merely a means of controlling pain. According to online sources, inactivity can be detrimental or even debilitating to lumbar spinal stenosis patients. Therefore, the physical therapist will design an exercise program that will keep the patient active but will not add to the problem.

Physical therapists sometimes use heat or cold therapy as well as water therapy to treat lumbar conditions. Acupuncture is an alternative treatment often used to relieve pain. After assessing musculoskeletal imbalances, a physical therapist can more easily determine a course of action, which may include electrical stimulation, stretching exercises, and posture training. Obviously, patients should avoid activity that causes any increase in pain and suffering, which could ultimately lead to spinal stenosis surgery. Again, the primary goal of the treatment program is to relieve a person's pain and suffering. And it may be necessary to modify activities to accomplish the goal. For example, people adjust the way they walk, or they use assistance while walking. Leaning forward while walking is more comfortable and helps to alleviate the pain. Canes, walkers, and shopping carts are useful supports for people who finding leaning forward a comfortable position but are concerned with losing their balance and falling. Finally, an epidural injection of cortisone usually relieves pain symptoms and is a valuable part of the spinal stenosis treatment. Injections are given several times over the course of a few months. For some people, over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications can be helpful.

My
Words
For
You

Quiet, not really there sitting
All seeing eyes, still vacant stare
Mouth moves but not speaking
Words are whispered from one so weak,
Future fading in the absence of spirit,
Sudden release would be so kind,
Confusion reigns everywhere,
Screaming, still no sound
Caught in a spirit of pain
Feeling to win anything
Please listen my voice, I'm still here
With shaking hands and tears dropping
Remember me, as I you,
All the good times to remember
Deep inside this, know
I appreciate your hug and kiss.
Until that day when we part,
You always know you have my heart

Best wishes, Norrms and family xxxxxxxx

Anti inflammatory supplements can help to lower inflammation and pain without using drugs that carry serious side effects. Chronic inflammation can lead to health problems such as heart disease, autoimmune disorders, cancer, osteoporosis, and other immune system disorders such as psoriasis. Non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs are often used to treat these illnesses. Using NSAIDs as a prolonged treatment for pain can result in side effects that include but are not limited to stomach pain, ulcers, and liver or kidney damage. Anti inflammatory creams contain menthol and eucalyptus oil that give temporary relief from pain associated with swelling. Natural solutions contain vitamins, herbs, trace minerals, and enzymes. Conventional compounds contain steroids, analgesics, salicylates, and other pain relieving ingredients.

When the body detects a foreign substance the white blood cells go to work to fight against the invader. The symptoms of this battle results in fever, aches and pains, fatigue, and headaches. Anti inflammatory supplements help to prevent inflammation. Vitamin E helps to boost the immune system by increasing levels of bio-chemicals that are crucial to the immune system in fighting infection. Vitamin C works in the body to help the immune system as an antioxidant. Ascorbic acid is also believed to help cure the common cold, repair damaged tissue, and helps to keep bones healthy. Vitamin B complex helps to keep the immune system strong, provides energy to the cells, and helps with circulation.

There are many diseases that are related to chronic inflammation. Some of them include allergies, anemia, arthritis, cancer, fibromyalgia, kidney failure, lupus, psoriasis, pancreatitis, stroke, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer's. Conventional treatments for pain associated with swelling does not normally include anti inflammatory supplements. Most physicians prescribe NSAIDs and other prescription medications created to treat specific disorders such as immunosupressants for psoriasis and anti-depressants for fibromyalgia. Patients may find that they are discouraged because of the side effects associated with the drugs that give them relief from pain. Prayer and meditation on God's Word can give a person hope and comfort when dealing with pain related conditions. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:14)

Essential fatty acids omega 3 and omega 6 are very beneficial in treating inflammation. These substances are found in salmon, halibut, rainbow trout, flaxseed oil, walnuts, dark green vegetables, and canola oil. People with skin inflammation due to eczema or psoriasis will greatly benefit from essential fatty acids and using anti inflammatory creams that contain vitamins, herbs, minerals and enzymes. Minerals that are good for pain and swelling are magnesium and calcium. Enzymes derived from raw foods help to aid digestion and promote healthy immune function. Other benefits from taking enzymes include but are not limited to improved liver function and relief from lactose intolerance.

Glucosamine sulfate, boswellia, ginger root extract and white willow bark extract are some of the alternative ingredients found in anti inflammatory supplements. Glucosamine is found in the skin of shellfish and is used to treat people with swelling and pain associated with the loss of cartilage. Boswellia is gum resin that helps pain in those who suffer with arthritis symptoms. Ginger root extract contains enzymes that are beneficial to swelling and pain associated with muscle inflammation. White willow bard extract is especially helpful with joint and back pain. Alternative therapies can provide some natural ingredients that have few side effects but before using them a doctor should be consulted especially for those who are taking prescription drugs so as to avoid drug and herbal interactions. Other alternative ways to combat pain and swelling are exercise, relaxation techniques, sunshine, massage therapy, and restorative sleep.

Topical solutions contain ingredients that help to soothe inflammation associated with pain and itching. Anti inflammatory creams can be helpful with treating rashes such as eczema and psoriasis. Some of the topical solutions contain ingredients that help to moisturize the skin and soothe the itch such as aloe vera. Other ingredients that can help are vitamin E oil, almond oil, avocado oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter. Conventional topical solutions may contain steroids and should be used with caution. Over-the-counter steroid topicals are mild and can be used without hesitation but prescriptions are much stronger. Using too much can cause the skin to become thin and have the appearance of stretch marks. Excessive steroids absorbed into the bloodstream can lead to serious health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.

Analgesics and salicylates are commonly used in conventional topical solutions to help with pain and swelling. In addition, some anti inflammatory creams contain antibiotics that can be applied where there is irritation and infection present. There are also topical solutions designed to treat other skin problems such as fungus or yeast infections. Fungus infections may also be treated with oral anti fungal medications. Common types of fungus infections include athlete's foot, yeast, ringworm, and dandruff. For serious skin conditions a physician should be consulted before the patient starts self-treatment.

Studies have been conducted to test the idea that inflammation is linked to nerve receptors in the brain. Some chemicals may be able to change the messages the brain sends to the body and affect the response that causes swelling and pain. This research could lead to new medications for diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and other immune system disorders as well as new anti inflammatory supplements that strengthen the central nervous system. Hopefully one day there will be a greater understanding of immune system functions which may lead to a higher quality of life for those who suffer with chronic inflammation.

My grandson!

"How old are you grandfather?" "53 Years old my answer was"
WOW! Is that really old, isn't it?

This is from how the conversation with my five year old grandson Mac, as we sat on my lying (almost fully reclined just the way we like it loll) Chair horrid Henry watch; He was so far in my shoulder snuggled almost from the other side came. These are times I appreciate and will keep (hopefully) with forever.I have tried to explain to him that is 53 years old not really old, but look in his eyes he said none loll was having!

He wore on, "I saw you on TV the other day, did see you me waving you?"I told him, I couldn't see, but I gave him a great big squeeze for doing so and kissed his cheek. I could tell just at this point that Mac is only five years old but has clearly "was here before!"LOL with the wit and wisdom of a 30-year-old.

"I told my teacher were on TV, but I told him I was a little worried about you" he said, that innocent look in his eyes, yet, in the pit of my stomach I knew something brewing was!

"What do you mean?", was my provisional answer.

"Good," said he take a big breath when I saw you, you said you were on drug abuse on Telly! But I told my teacher that is not true, as only bad people took drugs!

It was an almighty HUSTEN!How Elaine choked on your coffee and chaos eight-year-old grandson folgte.Meine in a fit of giggles as the idea must have taken old Grandpa a funny bone love on drugs! The five-year-old boy was my arm sat sat and looked bemused at all the excitement and I couldn't believe what I just heard!LOL LOL

My eighteen years or so as a Grandpa (use the math from will) I never like, what to say my defense!I was to open tobendem and mouth. So, let's get this straight "said all your teacher that I was on Telly, the telly said I was taking drugs, but said it was not true because I am your Grandpa and I would not like that?" said very nervous"Yes," he said proudly.
An understatement at this point is lost for words and I must have looked as if I was in a MIME act as my mouth was moving, but coming out was no sound!I looked over to Elaine in sheer panic and mouth the word HELP!

Elaine, as always, Mac to her on the settee connect, so he asked a swap with his older brother, the still was as cool of laugh about what little brother had hit only with kommen.Mit Mac still sit and listen to his Nana as if his life depended on it (you can tell, the soft one boss LOL in this House, nanny defiantly) had to explain that it good drugs and bad and good drugs are only taken by good people, that by a doctor on prescription to get and not naughty! What is my Elaine a genius!Never in a million years I thought that!

How much he understood actually we don't really know this but reason was continued for ten minutes anyway.

This just shows how this terrible disease of dementia families more opportunities, you having ever dream. to actually such as these have my grandchildren with two only gives a conversation, it is important to finden.Kinder a cure and are adults to put every day in this position, and especially should not sein.Kinder, you are the innocent and our Zukunft.Sie should ensure their childhood without this may have.

Still, I suppose look back now it was so funny! LOL.
Do I inform you about a future TV presence to watch?

I BELIEVE NOT THAT SO!LOL LOL

I did not use Elaine to you from the school since pick up me I question why?LOL

Arthritis of the spine and arthritis of the neck can be very painful and debilitating problems that often affect individuals who are 40 or older. Both diseases have similar symptoms, including pain and numbness in the back, neck, head, and shoulders. The causes of these diseases may vary from one person to the next, but usually degeneration in the bones along with calcium build up may be significant causes of this problem. There are many forms of treatment that are commonly used for individuals suffering from these painful diseases. One of the most common treatments is restricted movement for the neck and back with a cervical collar, much like those used for individuals suffering from whiplash. Surgery is another treatment option that may be necessary if pain or complications continue after the use of the cervical collar has not shown any improvement.

The symptoms may be different for different people and the ups and downs of these symptoms will also vary. The back, neck, head and shoulders may ache from time to time and then be all right other times. Sometimes, bending and other common movements may cause pressure and pain to occur with arthritis of the spine. Often, the area that is affected will become numb for no reason. Numbness is very common, especially in arthritis of the neck. Other areas, including the arms and legs may also experience some numbness at times. In some cases, problems or changes with urination may arise. Frequent urination or the urgent need to urinate may affect the individual suffering from these diseases.

Sometimes past injuries are the culprit. An individual who has fallen or put extreme strain on the back or neck may be vulnerable to these forms of arthritis. The pain and strain from a fall or other injury can cause severe problems to occur, especially if medical help or advice is not sought in a timely manner. Degeneration of the spine can be to blame in some cases of arthritis of the spine. This has sometimes been attributed to genetic reasons and often blamed on the lack of calcium, much like with osteoporosis. The build-up of calcium in the bones can also be the cause. When these issues occur, nerves may become pinched or compacted, causing severe pain or numbness in the affected areas. Many individuals that suffer from arthritis of the neck will also be affected by herniated discs.

There are many treatment options that can be sought. One of the first methods of treatment will be medication to relieve the pain. This will only be helpful and will not alleviate the problem for arthritis of the neck. The most common treatment used in treating individuals is the use of a cervical collar. This type of collar will help to hold the neck straight and help to relieve some back pain. Sometimes, a stronger collar or brace can be used. This allows little room for movement, but can often be successful in the relief of the symptoms of pain and numbness in the affected areas. If a collar is not helpful, there is only one more option for most individuals. This option includes surgery for arthritis of the spine, which is often used in cases of severe pain. Also, if there are compressed nerves in the spine, surgery will be used to decompress the nerves in an attempt to relieve the pain and pressure. In severe cases where the individual has difficulty in several areas, including urination, severe pain, and weakness, surgery is the only option. While surgery can be successful, there are risks, as with any form of surgery.

The pain from these diseases can be very severe and debilitating for the individual. This can result in a loss of employment and reduction in the ability to live on one's own and do simple everyday tasks. Sometimes, a person with arthritis of the spine can suddenly suffer excruciating pain that will keep him bedridden and unable to do any of the normal housekeeping and hygienic tasks that he normally takes for granted. Patients who endure arthritis of the neck can have similar symptoms. This can bring on added problems, such as depression, loneliness, and financial difficulties. For a Christian, a deep faith and belief in God can be the most helpful form of treatment and relief. Trusting God, having faith in His word, and asking for healing can be more effective than any medicine, brace, or surgery can offer. God encourages us to turn to Him in times of crisis. Jesus gave this advice: "Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible" (Mark 10:27). God knows more about our problems, our pain, and our despair than anyone else. He is the creator of our bodies. We can go to Him with our illnesses and pain, and He will give us peace.

Younger Early Onset Dementia

Hiya, as you know last week I wrote of the way my illness was possibly progressing and the effects it was having on my “Angel” Elaine and my family. When Monday finally came around (Some weekends are longer than others aren’t they? LOL) I decided to e mail my CPN (Community Phychriactic Nurse) and start to look at the future regarding homes and places for people my age or thereabouts. As you know the last thing I want to be is a burden for my family.

My CPN is an absolutely wonderful friend of my family and has helped us enormously and the return e mail didn’t take long at all. You have probably guessed what the answer is by now, but for those of you that don’t know, the answer was NONE! Not only was there no such thing as a Younger onset of Dementia Home in Torbay but there were none in my County of Devon or the neighbouring one of Cornwall!!

The further I investigated to my shock and horror I only know of one definitely (the Clive project) in Oxfordshire and possibly one in Keynsham near Bristol!! At this point could I ask a question? Are there any written and recorded amounts of people who are suffering from early onset dementia, say Pre-65yrs old? I ask this because of my well now publicised conversation with BUPA and there “Dementia Care Booklet” Thankfully there are records and figures of those who are over 65yrs old and have this horrid disease in some form or other (and yet still probably thousands yet un-diagnosed) But what about the younger early onset?

On The Alzheimer’s Talking Point Forum I hear almost on a weekly basis of people who have been diagnosed with early onset who are not only under 65yrs of age but some as young as in their forties and fifties as like me. What’s to become of us??? Are we not just as ill as the others with this unforgiving disease? Do we not have the same fear`s, worries and nightmares of what the future may hold? Do we not wake in the middle of the night screaming a loved one’s name and panicking because we are not sure where we are??? YES WE DO!!!

I find it absolutely astounding that there is no provision for this in the “Modern” world we live in!! How long do we have to feel as if we are “The forgotten ones? It’s bad enough that Dementia itself has a STIGMA to it in this year 2010 let alone being younger with the same disease!! Why do people treat others with Dementia no matter how old they are with such contempt and disgust! I not only want to be the VOICE of Dementia for as long as I am able but I want to see it RIGHT UP THERE, SPOKEN OPENLY ABOUT JUST AS CANCER AND HIV IS!!

I honest believe that as soon as we do this, the fear of dementia and the mystery of it all will vanish and be forgotten. Soon after that the funds and support will follow just as it has for the illnesses I have mentioned. Then and only then do I believe that progress will be made not only with Dementia in general, but also early onset sufferers as well. Until then it is up to us to try and remember that this horrid illness has no age barrier or age limit and could strike almost anyone, anytime. As always I promise you I will do what I can whilst I can and for as long as I can. I want to see a change in the laws of the acceptance age lowering ,not only in care home`s, but nursing homes, private NHS or funded along with Council run homes as well. What do you think?? As always my very best wishes, Norrms and family xxxxxxxxxxxx
